SUMMARY OF THE POEM

“Song Of Myself” is one of the finest devotional poem composed by Walt Whitman. He  is regarded as a great devotional poet of his time.

       Through this poem , the poet describes himself and some of others. He says life is not a bed of roses but pain and buffering. It is not made only for enjoyment but it is made only for doing some work and action. No doubt man is the creation of God who has come on earth one by one. Child is the father of man. After death if the body will go to God. God will give reward or punishment according to his deeds. The poet feels sorry If man fight one another cast , creed and religion. Everyone has got same hands , legs and blood. The poet wants to be happy and make other happy.

                                  Clearly this is a devotional poem.
